‘Hindi language promotes communal harmony in Arunachal’

ROING, Sept 14: To commemorate the adoption of Hindi as the National language on September 14, 1949, Lower Dibang Valley district today observed ‘Hindi Diwas’ here today at Cheta Rehko.
In the ‘Rashtra Bhasa Hindi Diwas samaroh’, Abu Saring, District Adult Education Officer (DAEO) in his speech called for saving the Hindi language in the state from becoming a mere ‘bazaruu’ language. He emphasized the importance of Hindi language and said the students should be proud of the National language and should be enriched by adopting good words from the language. He also urged that ‘Hindi Diwas’ celebration to be held all over the state.
Underlying the importance of Hindi as the only link language between different tribes in Arunachal Pradesh, B R Das, Senior Lecturer, DIET, Roing said that Hindi is the language in the state that has served to keep all the communities in close harmony.
Encouraging the students to take up Hindi as their course for study he informed on the scope of the language which is now emerging as another popular language internationally. “In Russia, 35 universities teach Hindi as the second language. In America, there is great shortage of Hindi teachers and every year the number of students coming to India to learn Hindi is increasing every year.”
Commemorating the day, various inter school competitions at primary, middle and secondary level like poem recitation, drawing, story telling and quiz competition were held in which 20 schools from the district took part.
Dignitaries attending the celebration Basu Perme, ex MLA, Dambuk, Alok Yirang, District Medical Officer, Kelo Pulu, President, Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS) and Namo Linggi, ZPM, Roing gave away the prizes to the winners of the literary competition.
At primary school level, the winners to receive the first prizes were Adora Mega, Athula Mimi, Elati Mimi, Nili Mow and Nani Dui for poem recitation, drawing, story telling and quiz competition respectively. In the middle school level Ankita Agarwal, Amili Linggi, Katimee Umbrey, Juni Mimi and Simoran Kumari won the first prize for poem recitation, quiz, essay and extempore speech competition. At the senior level, Arnab Das, Sashi Pandey and Roshan Singh won the first prize for essay, speech and debate competition.

Electoral officers urged to ensure error free electoral roll
NAHARLAGUN, Sept 14: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and i/c Chief Secretary Yeshi Tsering today stressed on clean and accurate electoral roll for ensuring free and fair election.
Launching the campaign on ‘Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) in the state today, Tsering urged the DEOs, EROS, AEROs to work sincerely for a error free electoral roll and cent percent inclusion of eligible voters in the electoral roll.

Road link to Siang belt cut off

Due to disruption of road links, regular supply of essential items to Siang districts
and Dhemaji in Assam has come to a screeching halt since yesterday. The breach left
hundreds of trucks and oil tankers stranded at either side of the highway. However,

There is possibility of scarcity of food and other essential items in the three Siang districts in coming days, if the road is not restored immediately.
Last year too, flood in Gainadi river breached a large portion of the highway between Dhemaji and Silapathar resulting in acute shortage of food and essential commodities for some months.

Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Gojen Gadi, attending programme, informed that the present State Govt. has accorded priority to Agriculture sector and advised the farmers to take up cash crops like rubber, tea etc. for economic benefit.

Upper Siang sounds red alert
Yingkiong, Sept 14 : The District Medical Officer, Upper Siang District has sounded red alert on possible outbreak of dengue in Upper Siang as the disease has already spread to various parts of the state after it was first detected in neighboring district East Siang.
Disease in patients with symptoms similar to those of dengue fever have been reported in Upper Siang since few days back.
The DMO through mobile public announcement cautioned the people about dengue, its preventive measures such as maintaining a cleanly surrounding to prevent mosquito breeding since the disease is mainly caused by mosquitoes of a different kind called aedes aegypti.

KHONSA, Sept 14: The first Zilla Parishad Performance Assessment Committee meeting of Tirap district was held recently.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC and member secretary of Tirap Zilla Parishad H. Matcha briefed the members on ZPPAC and said that this was an important exercise of government of India. He said that funding to the Panchayat bodies was based on the assessment of performance of Zilla Parishad by the ZPPAC. Humanity demands right of living for all
Dear Editor,
The recovery of Yuvraj Singh from cancer and his comeback as a cricketer have become an intense subject of discussion and media is making him the role model for the fight against the dreaded disease.
The mental strength and positive energy of Yuvraj Singh have indeed played a great role behind his recovery and comeback. Hats off to his courage, optimism and the spirit of 'Never Say Die'.
Positive spirit, courage, mental strength are definitely needed to fight the devil
named cancer; but along with it urgently requires extensive medical treatment which
is extremely costly. Thanks to his success as cricketer, Yuvraj is already a rich
person. Moreover, he enjoyed the financial support of BCCI who took up the cause
of Yuvraj when the news of his disease broke. Thus the best available modern medical
treatment, that too in USA, was easily accessible for Yuvraj and he availed it. But
the ordinary persons of modest means and the poor, affected by cancer, cannot afford
nominal treatment for themselves in India also. Even if they possess Himalayan mental
strength, they are left with no other option but to die a severely painful death.
Innumerable families of upper-
Without being disrespectful to the optimist attitude of Yuvraj a bit, let me humbly state that in order to fight against cancer, money becomes the most important factor. If the sufferers of the dreaded fatal disease are not possessed with loads of money, neither positive energy nor Yuvraj's example will serve their cause. I say it with heavy heart, but it remains the bitter fact.

Assam riot is nothing but the result of unchecked infiltration of Bangladeshis

Today, it’s a brainstorming effort to draw the curtain on the foundational problem
that underlies both the latest riots and the simmering tensions in Assam and elsewhere
in the North East, no one but Congress paved all these. History hold records that
the Saraighat battle in 1667 was the first Muslim invasion but Lachit Borphukan
with alliance of Golden army (North easterners) made the conquest a fatal mistake.

The third invasion is in three phases; of which the first outbreak was in 1982, second in 1993 and third is on hand. Precise estimates of the number of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in India are hard but official estimates some 20 millions. Neither Tarun Gogoi nor Sonia Gandhi admits it as the core of Assam riot but trying to wash hands by putting the blame on others as responsible, but GoI is to blame for Assam clash. When the flaw is within India it is rubbish blaming others without proof. The English saying, “shadow beneath the candle” goes contextual here. It is an Indian nature to occupy own Indians engaging outsider since King Ambhi of Taxilla inviting Alexander against Porus of Punjab circa 322 BC and Maharana Sangram Singh connived Babur against Ibrahim Lodi in 1525 AD.
Sonia Gandhi and some news channel are conscientious for provoking the Muslim populace of India by globalizing the issue with inflammatory statement, “Muslims vs Bodos” that heightened the flame, whereas it was not Bodos vs Muslims but Bodos vs. illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The Bodos in Assam have been living with Indian Muslims since decades. It is also tensed to know that South Indian Muslims are allegedly harassing the North East students compelling to retreat home.
Also, economically, the illegal immigrants were peril for Assam locals, they compete for the same manual work in every way possible that is rendering Assam wages labour to scatter into its neighboring states. With the poor and unemployed populace in the world, India isn’t exactly lacking in unskilled labour force in vast numbers that still live in abject poverty both in rural and urban areas. So, it is an absurd argument that the acceptable level of illegal immigration from Bangladesh add to the cheap labour pool in India, actually the intention of Congress was to enlarge a vote bank. The political thinkers should have understood that it’s not a hyperbole that every illegal immigrant is a potential security threat, and the presence of millions of such immigrants who effectively remain off the radar of the official agency is a disaster recipe.
Unheeding the Lt Gen (Retd) SK Sinha’s (Governor of Assam in 1998) report was another Himalayan blunder, in which it was warned of a weighty menace to India’s security from the influx of illegal migrants from Bangladesh, the prediction that fulfilled in this clash. Instead of amending, Congress and the CPM pilloried Sinha, accused him of stirring communal tension, 22 Congress MPs wanted his recall.
Tarun Gogoi cleans himself terming the clash as upshot of foreign hand, indexing China and Pakistan. The question is when China and Pakistan were plotting in this demographic bomb: was India sleeping? The influx in the decade could have been stopped since then but the political parties have been sightless to the security and social threats arising therefrom. The Assam riot is nothing but the result of unchecked infiltration of Bangladeshis into India; it was inevitable to come by. Those Muslim religious leaders who had allegedly fuel the situation should have been booked under the law.

Price hike and common people
Dear Editor,
Through your daily I would like to criticize the recent price hike of diesel and LPG cylinder. Biting the bullet, the government Thursday night raised the diesel price by a steep Rs. 5 per liter and capped the number of subsidized cooking gas cylinder to six per household a year, the government for the first time introduced a cap on supply of LPG cylinders of 14.2 kg that will make the consumers pay market price for cylinders beyond six.
For the remaining part of the current financial year, the number of subsidized LPG cylinder to a consumer will be three cylinders. It will have an adverse effect on the prices of essential commodities which are already high. It will further increase hardship of common people. Diesel increase will have a cascading effect on the economy as a whole, this is going to contribute to overall inflation and create mayhem in the economy.
The hike in the price of Diesel will boost inflation and hit the common man’s Homely Budget. The hike in the price of diesel and LPG cylinder should be rolled back for the greater welfare of the common people.
